Ngo, Huu Hao (Hao) is currently a Distinguished Professor of Environmental Engineering and being Deputy Director, Centre for Technology in Water and Wastewater, and Co-Director, Joint Research Centre for Environmental Green Bioprocess, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, FEIT, University of Technology Sydney. He has been elected as President, International Bioprocessing Association, Distinguished Fellow of International Bioprocessing Association, and Fellow of International Water Association. He is also the Founder and Executive Coordinator of the new established Australasia Practical Net Zero Emissions Society. Hao’s expertise and practical experience include advanced biological waste/wastewater treatment processes, circular economy based clean technologies, resource recovery, bioenergy, minimization of wastes and net zero emissions, membrane technologies, alternative water resources, and environmental impacts assessment. Hao has been named as Highly Cited Researcher (Clarivate Analytics, Web of Science) in 2 categories (Environment and Ecology; Biology and Biochemistry), in 2022 and 2021, in Category of Biology and Chemistry in 2020,, and in Category of Cross Field in 2019; Hao has also been named as Leader in Environmental Science and Leader in Biotechnology (2021 and 2023), Leader in Environmental Science (2020), and Leader in Biotechnology (2019) in Australia. Hao currently published more than 700 publications including 16 books and 46 books chapters (citation number > 50,500, h-index = 106, Google February 2024). Hao was appointed as Executive Editor/Editor of Bioresource Technology, Elsevier and currently is Editor of Chemical Engineering Journal, Associate Editor of Science of the Total Environment, Elsevier, Journal of Water Process Engineering, Elsevier, Heliyon Journal, Elsevier; Journal of Environmental Functional Materials, KeAi; and Associate Editor, Journal of Earth and Environmental Sciences, VNU. Classified in the World’s Top 2% Scientists ranking for the year 2020 and 2022 for both the career and single year. The research activity has been developed in the field of the Termodynamics Applied and the Heat Transfer. She is co-author of more than 140 publications among paper on international and national journals and conference proceedings. She has (basing on Scopus Data-Base on 16/2/2024) and h index of 37 with 2524 citations. The scientific activity is related to following arguments: Energetic and exergetic analysis of vapour compression plants; Refrigerant fluids; Convective condensation; Convective boiling; Solid state refrigeration. Adriana Greco has more than 20 years experience in caloric cooling evidenced by the production of 50 papers in top-level journals on the topic. In 2019 she was the PI (and responsible of the Unit of University of Naples) of the project SUSSTAINEBLE (a Solution Using Solid-STate-cooling: An INvestment Eco-compatiBLE,) financed by Italian Ministry of University for the development of the first Italian heat pump based on the elastocaloric effect.

PhD Cum Laude in Chemical and Environmental Engineering, with European and International mention, from the same university. I have published a total of 33 articles in indexed journals, most of them Q1 (27), and I have been first author in 26 of them. My H-index is 11 and my FWCI is 1,405 (SCOPUS). Regarding international collaborations, I have published 3 articles with Universidade do Minho, 2 articles with Agricultural University of Athens, 2 articles with Universidade do Porto, 1 article with Federal University of Technology - Paraná, 1 article with Brunel University of London and 1 article with Universidad de Puebla. I have participated in 10 national and international congresses, with a total of 13 contributions, as well as in conferences and scientific dissemination activities. I am also Associate Editor of the journal Cleaner Environmental Systems and Guest Editor of the journal Sustainable Production and Consumption. The research work carried out during my three years of pre-doctoral and current post-doctoral studies develops biological production approaches based on circular economy, sustainability, and life cycle to evaluate different alternative processes to traditional schemes based on the use of fossil resources. In particular, lignocellulosic biorefineries, macroalgae, using forestry and agro-industrial wastes, including the evaluation of different waste management valorization routes. Large scale modeling, life cycle assessment, techno-economic analysis and definition of multi-criteria approaches have also been part of my research. During my pre-doctoral research, I had the opportunity to work in 5 international and 1 national project, and I am currently part of 4 international and 1 national project, being co-IP in two of them. On the other hand, I would also like to highlight my research stays: 3 months at the Agricultural University of Athens, 1 month at the Brunel University of London and 1 month at the Universidade do Minho with the IACOBUS mobility grant. As for the awards I received: two awards for the best oral communication at the Research Symposium and an award from Wiley publishing house for having an article among the 10 most cited articles in 2022-2023. Finally, I would like to mention the development of an educational game with intellectual property registration (in progress), as well as the co-direction of 5 master's theses, 3 of which have already been presented and the others are under development.
